Based on a true story, The Grizzlies is more than the usual triumph through sports story, for it doesn’t shy away from moving depictions of the poverty and isolation characteristic of too many northern communities. When first-time teacher Russ Shepherd comes to Kugluktuk, he brings preconceived notions about northern life and no little hubris about his self imposed mission to bring about change. An interconnected chain of dramatic incidents, however (and some quieter cross-cultural corrections) lead Russ to understand that education is a two-way street.

Youth Art Enrichment: Call for Instructors: DEADLINE EXTENDED

EXTENDED Closing Date for Applications: Dec 13, 2019 @ 4:30 pm.

KIAC is seeking three instructors for Youth Art Enrichment, a four-day intensive arts program for Yukon high school students, held in Dawson City, Yukon in March 22 – 27, 2020. The goal of the Youth Art Enrichment program is to provide Yukon youth who have an interest in the arts and creative industries with an intensive learning experience in one discipline, giving them time to develop skills and to learn from professional artists.
