Thursday January 31st, 6 – 9 PM. Ages 12 -18, totally free! Snacks included!
Join DCMF’s Songwriter in Residence, Sam I Am Montolla from Montreal, for a free Hip Hop dance class.
Part One: Moving, Grooving and Taking Up Space
In the first hour and a half, we will be freeing our bodies with moves
and concepts that will touch on the Freestyle element of Hip Hop Dance,
and what we like to call Grooving; in other words, feeling the beat and
“vibing”.
Part Two: We Put It All Together with Flavor
We will explore performing and putting the moves and concepts we did in
Part 1, using Choreography and Freestyle. The idea here is to embrace
individuality and creativity.
Hip Hop Elements and History will be discussed throughout the workshop as well as touching on other Street Dance Styles. The point is for the participants get a better understanding of the dance’s progression, the pioneers and the flavor.
