December 9 – December 31, 2004
The idea of an enrichment program for young artists was originally envisioned at a meeting between representatives from KIAC and the Department of Education. KIAC proposed the development of enrichment courses for Yukon students who have exceptional artistic ability and interest – a concept comparable to a soccer camp or hockey school for young athletes.
Students, from grades 8 to 12 across the territory, travel to Dawson for a week of specialized instruction with practicing, professional artists. KIAC recruits instructors in different art mediums and every effort is made to enroll the student in the workshop of their preference. Each workshop can accommodate twelve students.

Youth Art Enrichment is only possible because of financial support from several key funding agencies including Yukon Arts Fund, Department of Education, Youth Investment Fund, Yukon Foundation, Dawson City Recreation. In true Dawson style we receive indispensable help from local businesses and many, many volunteers! The energy and dedication of the instructors and the chaperones accompanying out of town students is also integral to the program’s success.
