If you haven’t already, be sure to check out Nicole Rayburn’s Which Witch?, a part of the Confluence Series at the SOVA Gallery. The exhibition, made up of a series of 1001 images as well as a video entitled How to Identify a Witch, “…traces the figure of the witch through historical constructions, actual persecutions, and the transformations of this character into contemporary representation” (Rayburn).
The show is not solely about witches or ancient history, though. By exploring the people that have been identified as witches, and consequently, the history of persecution of these people, the viewer may realize that the kind of repression, prejudice, and intolerance faced by witches is not just a thing of the past.
Which Witch? will be open for viewing on Friday and Saturday, from 3-7 PM.
