Submission Guidelines

The ODD Gallery is a contemporary exhibition space housed within Dënäkär Zho / the Klondike Institute of Art & Culture (KIAC), located on Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in territory in Dawson City, Yukon.

The ODD Gallery’s year-round programming features solo and group exhibitions—selected and curated by committee—by regional, national, and international visual artists. The gallery also presents a wide range of outreach programming, including artist talks, openings, lectures, screenings, youth programs, and other special events. Programming fosters professionalism and appreciation of regional visual arts practice while providing the community with access to a diverse range of contemporary visual art and ideas.

The ODD Gallery invites proposals in the winter during a scheduled period from regional, national, and international visual artists and curators working in all mediums and disciplines.
The gallery is accessible via ramp through the Classroom entrance.

Located near the Arctic Circle on Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in territory in Dawson City, Yukon, KIAC encompasses:

Fees & Financials – 2027/28

KIAC follows CARFAC’s fee schedules for setting compensation rates under Institution Category I.

  • Solo Exhibition Fee: $2,677
  • Group Exhibition Fee: between $456 – $1,874 based on the number of artists (15 artists maximum)
  • One-way shipping assistance: up to $600
  • Artist Talk Fee: $561 (for a presentation during or near the opening)
  • The Gallery may also create a short text to accompany the exhibition and covers the production of promotional materials (invitations, brochures, etc.).
  • Opening receptions: food and beverages provided by the Gallery.

While the Gallery assists with installation and covers basic production expenses, artists are responsible for:

  • Installation logistics
  • Transportation, travel, artwork travel insurance, framing, and specialized equipment
  • Major painting or repairs

All exhibited work is insured up to a total value of $25,000 for the duration of the exhibition, including time in transit.

Gallery Facilities

  • Approx. 700 sq ft exhibition space
  • 90 ft of running wall space (9 ft 6 in height)
  • Plywood-lined walls
  • LED track dimmable lighting
  • Basic installation hardware and tools
  • Electrical outlets (wall and ceiling)
  • Equipment: monitors, media players, HD projector, plinths, clear plexiglass plinth covers (subject to availability)

All media will be considered within current space and equipment limitations. Artists are responsible for any additional required equipment or display materials.

Note: Minor changes to the gallery layout will occur during KIAC’s renovations (summer 2025–spring 2026). Selected artists will be notified of any updates well in advance.

Proposal Guidelines: 

2027/28 ODD Gallery Exhibitions: OPENS November 19th, 2025 @ 12 am PST

Note: All applicants will be updated on their application status once the information is available.

Proposals Must Include:

Applications must include Part A (Form) and Parts B & C (Supporting Materials).
Incomplete or late submissions will not be considered.

A. Fill out this formDEADLINE January 18th, 2025 @ 11:59 pm PST

B. Include all of the following in one PDF:

* Please include only the requested material in your proposal package. Packages that do not include all the required materials will be deemed incomplete and will not be considered.

  1. Contact info (name, mailing address, email, phone)
  2. Exhibition Brief (50 words or less)
  3. Exhibition Proposal & Artist Statement
    Max 1 page combined. Excess text will not be presented to the selection committee.
    1. Confirm that you are applying for a gallery exhibition
    2. Provide a clear description of the proposed exhibition, including special requirements
    3. Include an artist’s or curatorial statement relating to the proposed work
  4. Current CV(s) (max 3 pages)
  5. Corresponding Description of Documented Work (full details for labeling artwork in part C)
    1. Still Images – a numbered list indicating artist, title, medium, dimensions, and date
    2. Video/Audio/Time-based Work – a description indicating the artist, title, medium, duration, and date of work.

C. Documentation of Work – Read Carefully

Still Images:

  • 10 to 20 images saved as .jpg or .png files (TIFF, HEIC, and other file formats will not be accepted).
  • Maximum file size 1920 x 1080 at 72 dpi in RGB colour mode
  • Label each image numerically and by title (e.g., 01title.jpg, 02title.jpg … 10title.jpg)
  • Accepted file delivery methods:
    • Attachments to email (not embedded)
    • Publicly viewable Google Drive, Dropbox, WeTransfer, or ZIP file
    • Note: DO NOT embed images in emails OR as individual Google Drive links.

Film/Video/Audio/Time-based Work:

  • In one separate PDF, provide URL link(s) to video and audio files (ie, Google Drive, Vimeo, YouTube, SoundCloud, etc), making sure these are publicly available.
  • Total running time must not exceed 10 minutes.
