July 7 – July 26
Manufacturing Entertainment is the artist and curatorial duo, Julie Gendron (she/her) and Emma Hendrix (they/them). They work with various analogue and digital audio, video, electronics, and photography for performance and installation. Their most recent artworks are experimental audio/visual performances and single-channel videos from disappearing, threatened and unique environments, such as dam development in the Peace River Valley, glaciers in Iceland and permafrost in the Beaufort Sea. Their curatorial work focuses on community development and engagement through public presentation. They will explore collaborative public interventions while in residence at KIAC, inviting artists in Dawson to learn about and use surface mount speakers (surface exciters) and projection mapping with pico projectors. While in Dawson, Emma and Julie plan to explore the relationship between landscape, soundscape and architecture.
July 17 – 6-8pm – Macaulay House – Join Emma and Julie for an informal open studio where they’ll demonstrate video projection mapping and experiment with hand-built and premade surface speakers.
July 24 – 6:30-8:00pm – Macaulay House – Emma and Julie will present their past projects and show some of their experiments from their residency at KIAC.
Emma is also interested in collaboratively coming up with some ideas for using the surface speakers in nature and in town. If anyone would like to collaborate with them, please contact them directly at info@emmahendrix.com
