Make an Animated GIF with Aritst-in-Residence Chantal Rousseau! Experience the magic of making your art come alive! This workshop will introduce the basic animation principals of movement, looping, framing, and timing as well as strategies for making animation cells. Using free online software, you will learn how to make an animated GIF from drawings or photographs – digital or analogue. Z’otz* Collective was formed out of a shared interest in collaborative art making. We are three visual artists of Latin American heritage living in Toronto. Drawing is our primary means of expression and is used to respond to each other and to what surrounds us. The direct approach allows us to create idiosyncratic and humorous images that examine migration, transformation and regeneration.

Carrie Allison is a nêhiýaw/cree, Métis, and European descent visual artist based in K’jipuktuk (Halifax, Nova Scotia). She grew up on the unceded and unsurrendered lands of the Sḵwx̱ wú7mesh (Squamish), Stó:lō and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/ Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) and xʷməθkʷəy̓ əm (Musqueam) Nations. Allison’s maternal roots are based in maskotewisipiy (High Prairie, Alberta), Treaty 8.
