Artist in Residence Rebecca Roher will be talking about her work Tuesday, August 29 at 7:00 pm in the KIAC Ballroom.Rebecca Roher is a cartoonist, illustrator and educator from Toronto, ON. She completed the Foundation Year Programme at University of King’s College in 2006 and received a BFA from Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in 2010. She graduated with a Masters of Fine Art from the Center for Cartoon Studies in WhiteRiver Junction, VT in 2015. Roher recently published her first graphic novel, Bird in a Cage, with Conundrum Press about her grandmother’s decline into dementia. An early version won Best English Comic at Expozine in 2014. Her comic, Mom Body, about the physical transformation involved in pregnancy was nominated for Ignatz and Doug Wright Awards. Rebecca and her artistic partner Jonathan Rotsztain will be leading two workshops on Drawing Comic Books on Sept 1 at 5:00 pm and on Sept.2 at 11:30 am (pay what you can).
