The Dawson Film Lab is a unique opportunity for artists to come to Dawson City for a week-long residency to shoot and hand process Super8 or 16mm film or make a cameraless film on 35mm.

September 13-27, 2026

The focus is on analogue film processes (8mm and 16mm), and involves the use of eco-safe developers using local plants and/or caffeine. Participants can also work with cameraless filmmaking, scratching or painting directly onto 16 or 35mm film. A Phytogram (sustainable, camera-less photographic technique that creates images by reacting the natural chemical properties of plants with 16mm film under sunlight) workshop included.

Participants can work at their own pace (and times) and will have access to the KIAC Darkroom/Ballroom during the dates of the workshop (September 13-27).

Cost is $100 and includes 4 rolls of film and all materials and cameras.
