SUMMARY:Cult Cinema at the Eldorado
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a rejuvenation of our winter cult cinema screenings in the Sluice Box Lounge at the Eldorado Hotel. \nSit back\, have a beveridge and enjoy some weirdness from the other side of cinema! \n7:30 pm. \n \nOur first film is HAUSU (House) \n\n\nNobuhiko Ôbayashi\n\nJapan | 1977 | 88m | Japanese \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBuckle up and be warned: there is and has never been anything quite like Nobuhiko Obayashi’s eye-popping\, jaw-dropping\, and senses-shattering exercise in unfettered cinematic delirium. Offended by her father’s imminent remarriage following her mother’s death\, teenage Gorgeous invites her six schoolmates (musical Melody\, gourmand Mac\, egghead Prof\, daydreaming Fantasy\, demure Sweet\, and high-kicking Kung Fu) to accompany her to her aunt’s country house for the weekend. Once ensconced in the mist-shrouded manor\, the girls find themselves plunged into a seething cauldron of supernatural shenanigans as it is revealed that the possessed dwelling has a taste (literally) for young flesh. Unleashing a perfect storm of self-consciously chintzy special effects\, Hausu takes excess to enthralling extremes.\n\n

SUMMARY:Drawlidays V
DESCRIPTION:IT’S BAAAAAAACK \nOriginally created by Aubyn O’Grady and now organized by KIAC\, Drawlidays V is a secret santa portrait exchange. By way of drawing names\, you’ll be assigned someone in Dawson to *secretly*  make a portrait of by Friday\, December 6th.  At the same time somebody will be secretly making a portrait of you. You will have one month to produce your portrait! \nThe Drawlidays event has been donated to KIAC as a fundraiser! When you sign up\, you’re not only committing to producing a portrait\, but also to making a donation to KIAC on behalf of the person you are drawing. Suggested Drawlidays donation is $5 – $25.  \nOn the eve of Thursday\, December 12th portraits will be hung and on display in the ODD Gallery.  Portraits are for keepsies\, and this year we’d like to keep them on display for ONE WEEK ONLY. This means on December 20th\, 2024\, you’ll walk away with a new rendering of yourself to hang proudly above your mantle.  \n  \nRULES \nPortraits in this game are typically limited to the second dimension: so\, flat (ish)\, drawings\, paintings\, collages\, on paper\, etc. \nDrawlidays V is limited to those of us in Dawson. We cannot accept portraits by mail! If you are leaving town before December 6th you must ensure your portrait has been delivered. There is no bigger bummer than not finding your portrait among the others.  \n  \nDONATE HERE: https://square.link/u/VzVbbjJp \nDRAW TAKES PLACE: Tuesday\, November 5th \nARTISTS NOTIFIED OF PORTRAIT SUBJECT: Tuesday\, November 5th \nDEADLINE FOR PORTRAIT DROP OFF: Friday\, December 6th @ 2pm \nPORTRAIT REVEAL EXHIBITION OPENING: Evening of Thursday\, December 12th\, ODD Gallery open until December 20th \nLIMITED TO 100 people \nHappy Drawlidays\, Ya’ll!
