Matt grew up in the small town of Westville, Nova Scotia and completed a BA in English Literatures and Art History at Mount Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick. During these years in Sackville, Matt played in various bands while working at the Owens Art Gallery and CHMA 106.9, the campus-community radio station. Matt found his way to Dawson City as a touring musician in 2010 and has yet to find reasons to leave. After working as Production Assistant at the Dawson City Music Festival, Matt continues to be a tech for the festival, play in bands, and produce KIAC’s year-round Performing Arts Series and the Dawson Daily News Print & Publishing Festival.

Dan Sokolowski
Artist Residency Coordinator
Dawson City International Short Film Festival Producer
filmfest (at) kiac.ca

Yet another transplanted Ontarian, Dan attended the first Dawson City International Short Film Festival (2000) as a visiting filmmaker. Eight years later, after many return trips as KIAC Artist in Residence, ad hoc teacher and other sundry jobs, he and his partner Laurie moved here in 2007 to produce the film festival …  he may just stick around until he gets it right. Dan continues to thrive in obscurity as a filmmaker. Please add to his visitors count at www.sokcinema.ca.

Catherine Lalonde
Programming Manager

Born and raised a coal miner’s daughter in Sparwood, British Columbia, Catherine came to the Klondike for a two week turned two month visit in 2010 when the seed that would eventually grow many roots was planted. After three stints as a summer transient she became an official Dawson citizen in 2013. She landed her first gig at KIAC as the Kids Art Camp Coordinator in 2012 and has been in and out of the office in a variety of roles since then. Taking on the shared role of Programs Manager in October 2018 she is happy to be back at KIAC for the long haul.
