2019 Yukon Riverside Arts Festival Independent Project Application

Riverside Arts Fest offers a handful of art installations or exhibitions scattered around town; these projects are varied in structure and duration so the feasibility of each application will be considered on a case by case basis.  Artists wishing to propose installations/performances/exhibitions that do not fall into the “Demonstration” category should fill out the Independent Project application, found below. These projects must be complete and ready to exhibit/perform prior to the start of the festival (August 16th).

Examples of successful independent projects we’ve had in the past are: lecture series, film installations, mini exhibitions/installations, etc.

Read the following information and fill in the application at the bottom of the page

Artists will be selected by members of the Yukon Arts Fest Committee based on the quality of their applications and the feasibility of their project.

Once the deadline has passed, artists will be notified as soon as possible.

Artists are responsible for the transportation, set up and tear down of their installation/exhibit.

Installation/Exhibition artists must be set up by the evening of Thursday, August 15th and must be done with their tear down by the evening of Sunday, August 18th (some exceptions may apply).

Artists are responsible for providing their own supplies and materials. KIAC may be able to assist in some cases with small items (i.e. scissors), please mention this when detailing your set up requirements.

Artwork cannot be sold on site. If  artists wish to sell their work, they may do so through booking a table in the Art Market. Please contact admin@kiac.ca to book.

Artists may bring printed items promoting their works and/or practice, such as business cards.

Participants are responsible for their own accommodations while visiting Dawson City for the festival. There are hotels, B&B’s, campgrounds and RV parks in the Dawson area. The best way to find out information about accommodations is through the Visitor Information Centre @ 867-993-5566. We recommend booking as early as you can, since it is a very busy weekend in Dawson.

Participating Artists will receive an honorarium to-be-discussed upon acceptance.

Participating artist will be provided with breakfast, lunch and snacks on the days they are scheduled to demonstrate/perform/exhibit. All artists are encouraged to attend the welcome breakfast, which will be held on TBD.

Please include your city and territory or province of residence.
Please indicate the medium of your artwork/project
Please provide a short artist biography for yourself.
Why would you like to participate in the 2019 Yukon Riverside Arts Festival?
The Yukon Riverside Arts Festival is primarily located on front street, between the gazebo and the art market. While most demonstrations and installations are to take place in or near the established Demo Tent, on festival grounds, we are open to considering installations that are a short (under 5 min) walk from the main site.
If you would like your installation/exhibition to be in a location that has not been listed, please give us the name of the location and the reason you've chosen it. In the past, people have exhibited projects on the ferry, the Dawson Daily News building, the river's edge, etc. Think outside the box!
A clear and concise paragraph describing what you propose to create/exhibit. *This description will be used (in full or in part) in the Arts Fest promo, should you be selected*
If you would like to augment your application with images, you can either enter a link to your online portfolio, Facebook page, Instagram, an online image-sharing website (such as Dropbox), or somewhere we can see your work. Indicate in this field if you will follow up this application with emailed images.
Please check off any and all dates during which you expect your project to run.
Please include any other pertinent details relating to dates, hours, etc.
The Gallery Hop includes the KIAC Members' Exhibit at the SOVA Gallery, the Natural & Manufactured Exhibit in the ODD Gallery, and any other exhibits/installations/performances provided by participating artists, businesses and community members.
