The Golden Age of Selfies

KIAC Members Show: The Golden Age of Selfies
For this exhibition the ODD Gallery invited artists to explore whether we currently live in a "Golden Age" of selfies, or if the best in self-portraiture is already behind us.
U.S. chemist Robert Cornelius shot the first selfie way back in 1839, but the digital age has provided new opportunities for self-reflection/self-obssession. "The Golden Age of Selfies" offers a group of creative interpretations of this now-familiar mode of expression.
Twenty-four Klondike artists have responded with photography, sculpture, video, drawing and textile works. Some works go as far back as the 1970s!
A monograph for the show, by local writer and dog-musher Gabriela Sgaga, is available in print in the gallery, or online here.
Gallery hours are 10 am - 5 pm Monday to Friday, and Saturdays from noon - 4pm.
